Cemil İpekci / Fashion designer

Cemil İpekçi was born in Istanbul in 1948. He graduated from the Department of Design at the Royal Academy of Art in London in 1971. He worked as a stylist between 1972 and 1975. In 1975, İpekçi founded his own fashion house and introduced his collections, which were designed and created by himself, in the boutique “Tzagane”. He opened his second boutique “Tzagane” in Nice in 1979 and managed it until 1984. Since 1984, he has created Haute Couture under the concept of Anatolian Civilization. In 2002, İpekçi prepared the costume of Azra Akın, who was the winner of the Turkish Beauty Contest, organized by Star TV. İpekçi has also designed diamonds for the Turkish brand “Damra”. As of today, İpekçi continues to work on Turkish fashion, which is inspired by Ottoman cultural heritage.
